Death of Philip Seymour Hoffman and Hunger Games release dates
Hoffman played gamesmaker Plutarch Heavensbee in recent sequel Hunger Games: Catching Fire, with the character set to return in both parts of the concluding title Mockingjay.
The studio confirmed that Hoffman had completed filming for the first film and had 9 days remaining on the second instalment. Although these 9 days may prove problematic in the producing the remainder f the film, the studio are moving forward with their scheduled release dates.
“Philip Seymour Hoffman was a singular talent and one of the most gifted actors of our generation,” read the studio’s official statement. “We’re very fortunate that he graced our Hunger Games family. Losing him in his prime is a tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Philip’s family.”
Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is set for release on 21 November 2014 with Part 2 set to arrive the following year on 21 November 2015.
Live-Action Peter Pan film
The live action adaptation of J. M. Barrie’s classic tale will be a reimagining based during WWII and tell the story of Peter Pan being an orphan who is swept away to Neverland and goes on to become a hero among the natives there as he leads a rebellion against a band of evil pirates, led by Blackbeard.
There were rumours early on that Javier Bardem was in the running to play Blackbeard which has now been confirmed with Hugh Jackman taking the role.
Tron Legacy star Garrett Hedlund is also set to star as villain Captain Hook but in an unexpected turn of events, Peter Pan and Captain Hook will be portrayed as friends going up against Blackbeard together.
The film is titled Pan and will be directed by Joe Wright whose work include Anna Karenina, Atonement and Pride and Prejudice. The film is set for a release date of 17 July 2015.
