With the release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, we here at It’s OK Guys, We’ve Got This thought it would be a good time to compile a definitive guide to the Marvel Cinematic Universe so that you can get yourself up to speed with everything that has happened so far in this superhero saga.
Check out our previous post for Phase One to catch the origin stories of all our superheroes.
Listed below is the recommended viewing order so that you are able to keep up with every reference and most of all, the post-credits scene in these films which give us a teaser into the next film in the saga. Once you are up to date with this list, we’ve got a list of the future films in this saga, which we will be updating with every release.
So grab some popcorn and begin the marathon.
Phase Two is the stage for the more engaging storylines that explore the world of the superheroes we already know about while introducing us to some new ones inside and outside our galaxy.
When Tony Stark’s world is torn apart by a formidable terrorist called the Mandarin, he starts an odyssey of rebuilding and retribution.
And as I ended the Marvel Phase One marathon, I made a trip over to the big screen to watch the first film from Phase Two of the MCU, the threequel to Iron Man. Now that we’ve got the origin stories out of the way, it’s time to delve into some richer story lines from the Iron Man back catalogue.
Marvel decide to tease with us a hilarious post-credits scene for this film involving Tony Stark and Bruce Banner.
Thor: The Dark World
When Jane Foster is possessed by a great power, Thor must protect her from a new threat of old times: the Dark Elves.
The first Thor movie felt like a filler in this saga of films, but Marvel have decided to give us a sneak peak into the world of Asgardians this time around and expand on this new world and introduce us to some of the evil forces in the universe.
The post credits scene in this film ties into the Guardians Of The Galaxy (skip ahead to watch the trailer).
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and battles a new threat from old history: the Soviet agent known as the Winter Soldier.
The trailer did not give me a good reason to watch this film other than to keep up with the story, but this film has one of the most important plots in Phase Two along with other great popcorn dropping moments. The events in this film also set the stage for the events that will take place in the next Avengers movie.
As always stick around for the post-credits scene for a treat.
In the far reaches of space, an American pilot named Peter Quill finds himself the object of a manhunt after stealing an orb coveted by the villainous Ronan.
This film is looking awesome so far from the trailer. The group seem like a B-Team to the Avengers and I am intrigued by the fact that the story will take place in a completely different galaxy to the one we have been watching so far in the MCU.
The Avengers reassemble to battle the sentient robot known as Ultron.
Biochemist Dr. Hank Pym uses his latest discovery, a group of subatomic particles, to create a size-altering formula. Though his first self-test goes awry, he develops an instrument that helps him communicate with and control insects.
